Services
The Village owns and operates a natural gas and water system covering a 12
mile service area of the village proper. The system serves 640 water customers
and 400 gas customers. Our gas & water system services a rural area where both
water and natural gas is not readily available to the people.
In addition, the Village of Palmetto Cable Company has the distinction of being
Louisiana's only municipally owned and operated cable system. The system
presently services 125 cable customers with plans to expand in the near future.
The population of the Village is 188. Our city limit area encompasses 1 square
mile. As you can see, we are very small. We think this makes us unique when you
consider the services that we offer our citizens and our outlying utility
customers in the surrounding rural area. Our chief goal is to serve the people
of the area.
We are members of the Louisiana Gas Association, the Louisiana Municipal
Association,

In addition, we are also members of the Louisiana Cable Telecommunications
Association and the Southern Cable Telecommunications Association,
SCTA@scta.com . Closer to home, we are also
associated with the St. Landry Council on Aging and Community Action Agency. We
are affiliated with the AmeriCorps/Vista program and we sponsor two Vista
volunteers to attend to the needs of the elderly in our area.
